Dear Students and Families,
Due to the forecast for inclement weather, we have made the difficult decision to reschedule tonight’s Senior Recognition and Scholarship event. Our top priority is ensuring that all students, families, and staff remain safe.
Please mark your calendars for the new date and time:
New Date: Wednesday, May 6th
Time: 6:00 PM
Location: Fine Arts Center (FAC)
We sincerely apologize for this late notice and any inconvenience it may cause. We look forward to celebrating our seniors’ achievements with you in a safer environment next week!
Good morning. It is Algebra STAAR Day! Testing teachers, I am in the D hall for material pick up this morning. Please ensure every student receives a formula chart, scratch piece of paper, and a yellow NSpire calculator.
If you are not testing, we are on intervention schedule for AP testing. Passes will not be delivered so please allow students to leave if they have tutoring today.
Good morning teachers. Today students will be taking the Biology or U.S. History exam. I am in the library for material pick-up. Please make sure to hang your yellow attendance sheet outside your classroom by 8:05.
Friendly reminder, we are on our intervention schedule today and tomorrow. A huge thank you to everyone for helping make our first day of testing run so smoothly.
Dear Kaufman High School Parents and Guardians,
As we approach the end of the school year, we want to share the schedule and important updates regarding the upcoming State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) End-of-Course (EOC) exams.
Kaufman High School EOC Testing Schedule:
Tuesday, April 14: English 1 and English 2 EOCs
Tuesday, April 21: Biology and US History EOCs
Tuesday, April 28: Algebra 1 EOCs
Note: Make-up testing will occur during the designated state testing windows as applicable for students who are absent on their primary testing date.
Testing Room Assignments: Please note that testing room assignments will be posted no later than the Thursday prior to each testing date.
Students should check the postings on campus to ensure they know exactly where to go on the morning of their exam.
Important Campus Procedure for Testing Days: To ensure a secure testing environment and minimize distractions, please remember that outside food or drink delivery is not allowed on testing days. Please ensure your student brings their lunch or plans to eat in the cafeteria.
How to Help Your Student Prepare: To help your student perform their best, please keep the following tips in mind:
Rest: Ensure your student gets a full night’s sleep before their testing day.
Nutrition: A healthy breakfast on the morning of the exam provides the energy needed for focus.
Chromebook Prep: Students must bring their school-issued Chromebook fully charged and remember to bring their charger as a backup.
Punctuality: Please ensure students arrive at school on time so they can locate their assigned testing rooms and begin without unnecessary stress.
We are incredibly proud of the hard work our students and teachers have put in this year, and we look forward to seeing them excel.
If you have any questions regarding the upcoming assessments, please feel free to reach out to our associate principal and testing coordinator, Mrs. Webb, at jwebb@kaufman-isd.net.
Thank you for your continued support of our students and Kaufman High School.

Reminder, we will hold a send-off for our Special Olympic athletes this morning. Please take attendance promptly at 7:50 and then move your students to the front hallway. Let's show these students our support as they head out to the track for their home meet!
A little thank you from the school board and central office. Swing by the front office work room tomorrow to build your own STAAR Survival Kit.

Don't forget, today we are on our early release schedule. We hope everyone has an enjoyable Spring Break and we will resume classes on Monday March 23.

Don't forget... Early release today! Once buses have left you are free to enjoy your spring break!

Kaufman High School Families:
I hope you and your family are enjoying Winter Break. As we look ahead to students returning on February 23, we encourage families to discuss the importance of staying in class during the instructional day and following campus procedures.
We are aware of student walkouts that have occurred in some surrounding school districts. While students are on campus, school administrators and KISD police officers are present to maintain a safe environment. If a student leaves school property without authorization, the district’s ability to supervise them is limited.
Students who leave class or campus without permission will be marked absent in accordance with district attendance procedures and may be subject to consequences outlined in the Student Code of Conduct.
We appreciate your continued partnership in supporting a safe and orderly learning environment.
Sincerely,
Dr. Mathew Nichols

Dear Parents and Guardians,
This week, (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday) Kaufman High School students will participate in benchmark testing for their upcoming End-of-Course (EOC) exams.
Tuesday: English 1 & English 2 EOC
Wednesday: Biology & US History EOC
Thursday: Algebra 1 EOC
While these are practice tests, they are a critical part of our preparation strategy. We treat this week as a "dress rehearsal" for the official STAAR exams in May. Here is why this week is so important for your student:
The Exam Experience: Standardized tests require stamina. By simulating the actual testing environment (including timing and rules), students build the endurance and familiarity they need to feel calm and confident on the real testing day.
Targeted Data: These benchmarks show us exactly how students are performing on specific state standards. Rather than guessing, we will know precisely which concepts your student has mastered and which areas need a little more work.
The "Two-Month" Window: We still have a solid two months of instruction before the actual STAAR exams. This data allows our teachers to adjust their lesson plans, create targeted tutorials, and intervene now to ensure every student is ready.
Pacing & Technology: This is a chance for students to practice managing their time effectively and ensures everyone is comfortable with the testing platform on their Chromebooks before the high-stakes day arrives.
Please encourage your student to get a good night's rest and put forth their best effort. The better the data we get this week, the better we can support them for the rest of the semester.
Thank you for your partnership!

Dear Parents and Guardians,
At Kaufman High School, the safety and security of our students and staff are our highest priorities. To ensure our campus remains prepared for any situation, we will be conducting our state-required safety drills for the current semester today (Monday, January 12).
These exercises allow us to practice our emergency protocols and ensure that everyone on campus knows exactly what to do in the event of an emergency.
We appreciate your continued support in keeping Kaufman High School a safe place to learn. If you have any questions regarding our safety procedures, please feel free to contact the front office.
Go Lions!
Sincerely,
KHS Administration Kaufman High School
