Kaufman ISD School Board Approves Calling Bond Election for May 4, 2024
KAUFMAN, TX - During Monday’s regularly scheduled board meeting, the Kaufman ISD Board of Trustees approved calling a bond election for May 4, 2024.
The board approved the recommendation made during a Special Meeting last week by the Long-Range Facilities Planning Committee (LRFP). The committee is made up of Kaufman ISD students, parents, business leaders, and members of our community. The LRFP committee members toured facilities and held six meetings over the past several months where they discussed issues related to the needs of the district including current enrollment growth, campus capacities, finances, and bonding capacity.
The proposed bond that will be presented to the voters is for $170,000,000 and addresses safety and security throughout the district along with immediate campus capacity needs due to the growth within our district. The details of the bond package are outlined as follows:
District-Wide Safety, Security, Maintenance, and Infrastructure Priorities for all campuses ($4,419,928)
New Junior High - Phase 1 and Phase 2 ($129,845,978)
New Ag Barn ($3,562,584)
Phillips Elementary School Renovations ($22,959,914)
Helen Edwards Early Childhood Center Addition ($9,211,596)
Early voting for the May 4, 2024 election begins on April 22 and closes on April 30, 2024. The last day to register to vote, or make any changes to your existing registration, is April 4, 2024.
More information about the bond packages will be provided to the community throughout the spring leading up to the May 4 election.
