Dear 5th Grade Parents,
There is an exciting opportunity coming this year for our 5th grade students! Sky Ranch, a camp and outdoor education center, has been chosen as a learning event for all Kaufman ISD 5th grade students. The scheduled dates for our 5th graders to attend Sky Ranch are February 25th – February 27th.
About Sky Ranch:
Sky Ranch is located near Van in East Texas, about an hour from Kaufman. It has been in operation for over 50 years and enjoys the reputation of being one of Texas' finest summer youth camps, serving over 6,000 children each season. Sky Ranch has been a long-trusted name in quality programs for children.
The Outdoor Education program follows the same excellent tradition. This program is an extension of the classroom, including instruction that deepens student understanding of the 5th Grade Science Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS). Students will have an opportunity to participate in hands-on activities which will help develop their awareness, appreciation, and understanding of the outdoor environment. The total cost for camp is $100 per student, which includes 3 days/2 nights at Sky Ranch, bus transportation, and all meals and activities. We want to give you sufficient time to plan for this upcoming expense. We will be happy to accept partial payments along the way to help you pay in full by the deadline of January 18th. Payments will need to be made to your child's school (Cash or Check). Please make sure when sending payment, you include your child's name, homeroom teacher and specify the money is for Sky Ranch.
There will be a camp information meeting for parents on each campus.
