Individual and Group Counseling

Individual Counseling

Individual Counseling is usually referred by a parent or a teacher. Students can also request to see me. Together, we can work through many issues such as friendships, handling stress or anger, staying in control, divorce or death related feelings, and social skills. When students come to see me, they are NEVER in trouble. We are simply working together to solve developmental issues in their life.

Group Counseling

The "Ladybug Club" is held for 10 weeks during the students' recess time. First grade groups meet during the second semester and second grade during the first semester. Usually around 6-9 students are in each group (approximately 2 students from each class). Referrals are from the teacher or parents. We use the Kids Connection from Rainbow Days Inc. curriculum. Go to www.rdikids.org for more information. This is a wonderful curriculum great for any student. We cover topics such as making choices, creating friendships, staying drug free, handling emotions, and goal-setting.

If you are a parent or an educator and would like to borrow any of these resources, please see Kim White, Room 164. I'll be glad to work with you on any of these issues as you read along, in order to help your child be as successful as possible.

Also, we hold parenting classes throughout the year.  Please contact me if you would like to participate.
