Meet Gary W. Campbell High School's New Staff Members

GCHS is excited to welcome their new faculty and staff members.

It doesn't take but a few minutes on social media to find myths and misinformation about public schools. The one that I see the MOST has to do with students reciting the Pledge of Allegiance to the United States Flag.

Here is the truth. EVERY DAY IN EVERY TEXAS PUBLIC SCHOOL students face the flag, place their hands over their hearts, and recite the pledge to the United States flag. This is followed by the pledge to the Texas flag. It's the law in Texas, and forty-six other states have similar laws.

That is GOOD NEWS to many people!

If you see a post asking that schools be required to say the pledge like in the "good old days" you will now understand that the post is false and should not be shared.

October is National Bullying Prevention Month

National Bullying Prevention Month was founded in 2006 by PACER's National Bullying Prevention Center. The campaign is held during the month of October and unites communities around the world to educate and raise awareness of bullying prevention. Take action and join the thousands of individuals participating in multiple activities throughout October.

What is Bullying?

Bullying is when someone is being hurt either by words or actions on purpose, usually more than once, feels bad because of it, and has a hard time stopping what is happening to them.

Where Does Bullying Happen?

Bullying can happen anywhere. It can occur in your neighborhood, while going to school, at school, and while on-line.

What is Cyberbullying?

Using technology—internet, email, cell phones, social media, pictures— to hurt or harm someone else.

Bullying is never okay, cool, or acceptable.

No one EVER deserves to be bullied!

GCHS encourages students and staff to participate in the Great Kindness Challenge, January 22-26, 2018. The Great Kindness Challenge is a positive, proactive bullying prevention initiative, reaching millions of students during the last full week of January every year.

GCHS has scheduled events to help support a safe and caring school environment, not just for our students but for all those who pass by our school. Today GCHS StuCo students braved the wind and chill to decorate the fence on the student drive to remind everyone to BE KIND.

Gary Campbell High School had an outstanding Fall semester in 2017. The month of December produced 4 early graduates. One of the new grads begins his military career this spring while the other 3 are headed off to college. All students were hard at work and GCHS had over 340 course completions with over 100 in December alone! Great things are happening at GCHS and it is nothing short of amazing!

GCHS teacher, John Cypert, took a pie in the face for cancer research. Students donated quarters to see if they could reach the lofty goal he had set for them. They were thrilled to meet the goal and give him a pie in the face, all in good fun.
