My name is Sarah Blackmon and I am a Kindergarten teacher at Helen Edwards. This is my 10th year as a teacher, my 7th as a Kindergarten Teacher. I am a 4th generation "Kaufman-ite." I graduated from Kaufman High School in 1997. After high school I attended Texas A&M University and received a bachelor of science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with an emphasis in Early Childhood. I graduated in 2001. I am ceritfied in Pre-K through 6th grade, ESL, and Gifted and Talented. After graduation I taught Head Start for 2 years in Kemp. In 2003 I joined Kaufman ISD and taught Pre-K. In 2004 I moved up to Kindergarten and have been there ever since. So far this is my favorite age to teach.
I am married to my wonderful husband, Jason. He is a teacher and coach in DeSoto. We have been married 5 years. We have one son, Parker, who is two years old.
Responsibilities: It is my job to prepare your child for first grade and lay the foundation for their educational career. In Kindergarten we will focus on literacy, writing, letter recognition, math skills and social skills. In my world, Kindergarten is where the fun is and where the learning begins!!!
