A bit more about me
I was a non-traditional student in college, since I finally started college at the age of thirty-eight. I started at Temple Junior College, Temple, Texas. I transferred to what was then East Texas State University in Commerce to finish my BA, which I did in 1997. I graduated from Texas A&M University - Commerce (the name was changed in 1997) on May 10, 1997, my granddaughter's first birthday.
I worked for a year before starting work on attaining my MA. I moved to Kansas to start my graduate work at Kansas State University. (My daughter and her family had moved there, so I followed) After a year and a half, my mother's health was failing, so I moved back home and transferred back to Texas A&M University - Commerce to finish my MA. I graduated in August of 2002.
I feel strongly about my family and what they mean to me. My only sister passed away unexpectedly in 2001, at the age of 55 from a heart attack. My daddy passed away the week of my daughter's wedding, in 1994. My mother fought a battle with cancer that she lost in 2002. I have one remaining sibling, a brother who is eight years older than me. I married my husband just a little over a month before my mother's passing. We will celebrate our seventh anniversary this December. My daughter is now divorced and she and the grandkids live closeby, which allows me the opportunity to spoil them quite often.
My husband and I love to attend the Dallas Maverick home games (I've only gotten to see one away game) and we love to travel. Last year we went to London for spring break and on an Alaskan cruise last summer. This summer we went back to the Caribbean to the island of Aruba for a week.
