Late Work Excuse Notebook:

The students will be required to write an excuse EACH time they do NOT turn in an assignment on time.  The students will not be able to turn in late work unless an excuse has been written PRIOR to turning in the assignment.  This will only cause pain for those students who notoriously turn in late work.

Reasons for this method:
Some students expect to turn in assignments 3-4 WEEKS late.
Some students don't realize how OFTEN they turn in assignments late.
Some students do NOT take responsibility for turning in their assignments on time.
Some students fail to understand WHY they might be failing a class.
Some students become "worried" about their grades 2-3 days before the end of the 6 weeks.t
Benefits to this method:
Student awareness of how often they have failed to turn in assignments on time.  Hopefully, this will cause a reduction in late papers and SOARING grades.

Parent understanding as to "why" their son/daughter is failing a class based on the students reasoning.

**NOTE**  Students will NOT have access to other students information.
