Chicks are special

As I was sitting here looking at the little chicks (they came home with me for the week-end), I was thinking about how very special they are.  Oh, I know that they are only chickens after all, but for me, they are much more than that.  They are the reason for the wide eyes of wonder in my students this week.  There is just nothing like watching a young child seeing a new life for the first time.  The expressions of delight are priceless to me and are the reason I teach.  Many parents and teachers have expressed to me this week how the children have been talking about what they learned in Kidsville about the journey from egg to chick.  I love to hear these stories and would welcome you to post your childs experiences or observations here on my blog.  Come by to visit the chicks if you are in the school this week and maybe you will feel a little of that wonder as well!
